‘Hairrassed!’

Ok, for starters maybe I could’ve chosen a better title, something more appealing but I suck at choosing titles for anything and pretty much everything. ‘Hairrassed’, coined from the words hair and harassed, so it’s when someone harrases your hair. Yeah,, I’m hairrasssed on a daily basis. Whether I’m at school or minding my business whenever I’m out with my mom, people constantly and blatantly put their hands in my hair. Hello?? It’s my hair, no touchy touchy! The least I can do when strangers in public places put their hands in my hair, is simply smile and thank them for their compilements but on the inside I’m like “Dude, don’t be playing in my hair. I don’t know where your hand been.” And no I’m not American, but lately I’ve been adapting to their slang, which is kind of cool..

However, during school when a brazen teenager drags my ponytail, I’m compelled to drag her neck but I wouldn’t actually do that. First of all, I take precious time in the mornings to tie my hair in a conventional ponytail and it peeves me off when someone effortlessly dishelves my hair, which deafeats the whole purpose of combing it. Yeah, yeah, I know that my hair is long and nice, and every compliment makes me smile oh so much but they keep on molesting my hair it will no longer be as long or as nice. And they always ask me stupid questions like “Why is your hair so long?”. How the hell am I supposed to know? Why don’t you ask God, who created me. A smile and a monotonous “I don’t know” is my usual response. Not to mention the most frequently asked question of the fourth year in high school, "Why don't you like to let out your hair?" Well, if you haven't noticed, random people have been rubbing their hands in my hair and I really hate that. For me, my hair is one of my favourite attributes and it's personal and when they 'hairrass' me it feels as if I am being stripped of my privacy. My hair's a personal possession! Back to the point, I don't let out my hair because it encourages 'hairassers' and I can't be bothered to fend off so many on a daily basis.

So my hair remains in a ponytail but they ['hairassers'] are inevitable. No matter what, there'll always be a sly person lurking behind me just waiting for the opportune time to strike and ravage my hair. Sigh! Such is life.
